The latest release from brand Roger Dubuis, the Excalibur Quatuor, proves that watches don't need to be dripping in diamonds or gold, or have been made in the 18th century, to garner a high price tag. Having built a reputation for superior craftsmanship over the last 20 years, the price of Roger Dubuis watches often reach into the seven digit range, and this one is no different, priced at $1.1 million USD.
The silicon watch takes 2,400 man-hours to build, is made from 590 distinct parts, and features four sprung balances that have been set at a 45 degree angle to take both gravity and the wearer's movements into account, providing unprecedented accuracy. Silicon four times harder than steel was also used for the case construction, bringing the watches weight well below your standard gold watch despite it's large face size.
